Grades 5 and 6 learn about Cyber safety!

Police spoke to students about cyber safety on February 27. They gave Grades 5 and 6 students essential tips to be safe online–from what to avoid in their handles, to red flags to watch for when talking on online platforms, to when to stop the conversation and seek parental advice.

Here is a list of some red flags:

How can you tell that someone may have bad intentions online?
• The person wants to give you gifts (games: "lives" or free levels).
• The person tells a sad story so you will feel for them.
• The person asks for photos of you (they may ask for intimate photos).
• The person may be pushy or persistent.
• The person may threaten you.
