On August 21, Thomas Kane, Jr., father of Selwyn House Computer Technician Mike Kane presented to the school an oil painting of the Lucas and Speirs buildings in winter.
Mr. Kane got started in art through his grandfather, continuing his passion through school, studies at L’ École des beaux-arts, and his career in the art department of an advertising firm.
“I always kept a hand in drawing,” he says.
Thirty years ago he branched out into oil painting, mostly landscapes. More recently, as part of his transition into retirement, he started teaching four classes per week at a local art store and exhibiting his work at West Island galleries.
“That’s my love,” Mr. Kane says.
