Scot Prohaska Brings Elite Performance Insights to Selwyn’s Speaker Series
The second event in our "Unleash Your Potential" Sport Performance Speaker Series took place on May 30. Our guest for the evening was Scot Prohaska, an elite performance coach to Olympians, UFC champions, NHL stars, and top student-athletes.
Throughout the day, Scot worked closely with our students and athletics staff, sharing his unique in- and off-season training methodology. Students had the opportunity to experience components of his innovative Jump program, gaining valuable insight into what it takes to perform at the highest level.
In the evening, Scot spoke to parents and students about his 6 Lane approach to training, focusing on the psychology of performance, the importance of proper technique, and the essential building blocks of development—nutrition, hydration, and sleep. At the core of his message was a simple but powerful principle: success starts with just showing up.
Scot praised Selwyn’s three-sport philosophy, noting its advantages over early specialization in a single sport. He also commended our Varsity athletes for their notable discipline—something he remarked is rarely seen among high school students.
For parents of younger students, Scot's message was clear: encourage play and participation in a wide range of sports to support balanced, long-term development.
We are grateful to our partner, the Concussion Legacy Foundation, for making this event possible. Special thanks goes to Executive Director and moderator Tim Fleiszer ’92, Dr. Samantha Bureau, and Ryan Carey, who will be working with our athletics staff to integrate a performance model into the curriculum starting next year.
