Obituary: Former Headmaster Alexis Troubetzkoy

Alexis Troubetzkoy, headmaster of Selwyn House School for 10 years beginning in 1971, died recently.

During his time as headmaster, Mr. Troubetzkoy introduced some fundamental changes in the organization of the school. He changed the traditional “forms” into the more usual “grades” and introduced additional sports and functions, but his most notable achievements were the institution of Founder’s Day, the impressive expansion of the Wanstall Library and its facilities, and the introduction of French immersion classes in Grade 6 to meet changing conditions in the province.
