Selwyn House School Joins Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL)
Selwyn House School is pleased to announce its acceptance into the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) for the 2024-25 season. This exciting news marks a significant advancement for the school's thriving hockey program, offering new opportunities for our student-athletes to compete at a higher level while balancing their commitment to academic excellence.
"The CSSHL is a prestigious league recognized for developing and showcasing elite hockey players across Canada. At the same time, we are staying true to the mission and vision of Selwyn House School by aligning with an education-based league just as focused on character development and academic pursuits as it is to excellence on the ice," said Mike Maurovich, Director of Athletics for Selwyn House School.
The Selwyn House CSSHL team will compete against other top-ranked schools from across Canada in the Eastern U17 division, participating in a rigorous schedule of games, showcases, and tournaments from October through March.
"This membership aligns perfectly with our mission to foster well-rounded individuals who excel both on and off the ice," said Mike Downey, Headmaster of Selwyn House School. "We believe the CSSHL offers an unmatched opportunity for our student-athletes to refine their skills, compete at a national level, and pursue their athletic aspirations."
Selwyn House School boasts a rich tradition of hockey excellence since 1934, consistently fielding competitive teams across various age groups and graduating student athletes into amaetur and professional leagues including the CHL, NCAA and NHL. The school's commitment to hockey development is evident through its dedicated coaching staff, state-of-the-art partner facilities, and strong emphasis on sportsmanship and teamwork. Joining the CSSHL further elevates this commitment, providing student-athletes with access to advanced training and experienced coaches and a chance to showcase their talent on a national stage.
