Students Compete in Chess Championships from Elementary to Senior School

From Elementary School to Senior School, our students have been putting their chess skills to the test! On March 28, the Selwyn House School Grade 3 and Under chess team, consisting of Elliot S., Edouard S., Crescent S., and Charles H., showcased their prowess at the Quebec Team Chess Championships, emerging victorious and securing 1st Place!

Earlier that month, on March 21, the Senior School chess team advanced to the finals in the GMAA Chess League. The competitive team, consisting of Platon K., Leon Z., Chenchen S., Valentino S., and Ziye Z., was coached by Mr. Hua with assistance from Ms. Ouimet, a Senior School Mathematics teacher. In each match, four players from the team faced off against counterparts from another school, engaging in four games with a time limit of ten minutes per side. The players made it all the way to the championships before narrowly succumbing to West Island College in a fiercely contested battle.

Congratulations to all our chess players on their success!
