An Exciting Silver Finish at the Canadian Team Math Competition

On Thursday, April 11, Selwyn House School competed in the Canadian Team Math Competition hosted by St. George's School of Montreal. The competition, after which our Inter-House Math Competition is modelled, consists of a team event, an individual event and a relay event. Selwyn finished first in the individual event with Jerry C. and Leon Z. taking two of the four 2nd place positions and Ziye Z., taking the number one spot overall. After tallying the results of all three events, Selwyn is proud to announce the team's Silver medal finish overall. In addition to the excitement of healthy competition and challenging mathematics, students got to hear a keynote address from Yosi Grunberg, Senior Railway Engineer with WSP, a global consulting company. He spoke about the advantages of pursuing studies in the field of applied mathematics.

A big thank you to coach Mr. Elbling, Senior School Mathematics teacher, for preparing this phenomenal group of students for their stellar performance. Congratulations to Ken G., Ziye Z., Jerry C., Oscar T., Ian Y., Leon Z. for their stellar performance in the Canadian Team Math Competition! Your dedication and hard work truly paid off. - Ms. Sayegh, Senior School Mathematic Department Head
