Today we highlight Mr. Jon Bracewell, Senior School English Teacher, Extracurricular Activities Coordinator and Debate Coach (and Chess Coach), in recognition of his outstanding contributions to debating at both the Quebec and national levels.
For the past 15 years, Mr. Bracewell has been a dedicated volunteer with the Quebec Student Debating Association, including 11 years serving as President. Supporting a non-profit network of around 24 schools, his work has helped shape meaningful opportunities for students to engage in debate both in and beyond the classroom.
Mr. Bracewell is passionate about the role debating plays in developing critical thinking and communication skills. As he often emphasizes, the focus is not simply on competition, but on equipping students with the tools to think thoughtfully, question ideas, and engage critically with the world around them.
