A Night of Connection and Memories at the Young Old Boys BBQ

On August 21, we welcomed back nearly 40 recent graduates from the Classes of 2020–2025 for our annual Young Old Boys BBQ. The evening was filled with laughter, stories, and the chance to reconnect with former teachers, staff, and the Selwyn House community that continues to bring them together.

This year’s event had a special highlight: the Class of 2011 finally opened their long-awaited Time Capsule. Originally planned for their 10-year reunion, the opening was postponed due to Covid, making tonight’s moment all the more meaningful. Inside were artifacts of their time at Selwyn House—a signed rugby ball, magazines from 2011—but the most treasured items were the heartfelt letters they had written to their future selves, along with notes from their parents.
Headmaster Mike Downey shared an update on the exciting developments at Selwyn House, while Brad White ’94, representing the Old Boys’ Association (OBA), encouraged attendees to stay connected and get involved.

A perfect evening of tradition, reflection, and community spirit—true to the Selwyn House way.
