Staffers attend Women's March on Washington

Selwyn House Assistant Librarian Carol-Ann Hoyte and Admissions Officer Marsha Warmuth were among the over half a million persons who descended on Washington DC January 21 for the worldwide Women’s March. Even though the multitude completely clogged the city’s streets and transit system, Marsha described the group as “a mellow, joyous crowd” united by a desire to send a message to President Donald Trump that they don’t agree with his attitudes and policies. She found the experience empowering, and felt it could mobilize people around the world to work in their local communities for greater democracy. Carol-Ann agreed, pointing out that a global demonstration of solidarity such as this could create a ripple effect for change throughout the world.

Five family members of Selwyn House staffers also attended the Washington rally, with an equal number attending the local rally in Montreal.
