Miller Woodward runs half-marathon in record heat

Grade 11 student Miller Woodward 2018 completed the Montreal half-marathon on Sunday in the middle of the hottest September 24 in 50 years in Montreal.

The full marathon scheduled for that day was cancelled due to 30-degree heat and a humidex reading of 40, but the shorter events went ahead on schedule. Even so, The Montreal Gazette reported that nearly 900 participants received medical treatment for the heat.

Having trained on his own, Miller successfully completed 13.2 miles despite having of a bad knee and battling a cold

“Selwyn House has clearly shown our son the value of commitment, effort and a spirit of perseverance,” said Miller’s mother, Nirmala Ferrao.
