Scribe School in Grade 7 History Class

Students in Mr. Bouskill's Grade 7 history class used a wedge-shaped stylus to press into a clay tablet a message about goods that they "traded." They wrote their messages in English first, then transcribed them into cuneiform. Early Mesopotamian cuneiform tablets resemble modern receipts in their function, and they are some of the earliest examples of writing we have. The boys are studying the development of written language in their unit on ancient civilizations.
