Pre-U Performs MacIvor

On April 25, 2025, the Pre-U Canadian Literature students of the Liberal Arts program, welcomed their classmates and staff members to their production of two of Daniel MacIvor’s plays: Never Swim Alone, and This is a Play.

This class of seven students was split into two groups, each tasked with choosing a significant excerpt of MacIvor’s play to perform. They took the audience through MacIvor’s strange world of metatheatre and absurdism. The first play, Never Swim Alone, speaks to the stubborn and ever-lasting nature of competition between men. The second play, This Is a Play, explores the boundaries between the actor's persona and the character, and the process of creating a play. Both plays intentionally blur the lines between reality and performance.

I am so proud of these talented young men! - Ms. Sweer, Pre-University English and Humanities
