Sharing Our Stories: Voices of Kanien’kehá:ka Knowledge Keepers

On April 25, Aaron, Sahawisó:ko', and Kahente from Sharing our Stories visited Grade 11 English students. They spoke about the organization's mission to record Kanien’kehá:ka elders and knowledge keepers' oral histories. Aaron spoke about Sharing our Stories' mission to teach younger generations about the lived experiences of elders in the community. Kahente read two stories that centred on identity, language, and intergenerational connection. Sahawisó:ko', the organization's translation officer gave a Kanien’kéha language lesson, breaking down the linguistic structure of each word. Thank you Aaron, Sahawisó:ko', and Kahente for an engaging opportunity to learn from you. -Ms. Schwartz, DEI and Global Education Coordinator
