Peter Katz: Redefining Masculinity Through Music and Reflection

In the Grade 12 World Issues course last term, topics were explored through the lens of gender and masculinity. One project in particular stood out as it looked at masculinity and mental health through the transformative power of music. It was an incredibly moving presentation that impacted all who were in the audience. This presentation is what motivated Ms. Sweer, Pre-U English and Humanities teacher, to invite Peter Katz, a Juno-nominated recording artist from Quebec, to speak and sing at a Senior School assembly on January 24.

In his presentation entitled "Why I Seek Discomfort," Peter encouraged students to reflect on expressing emotions in healthy ways, aligning with the "Veritas" understanding of being true to yourself. We extend our gratitude to Peter for contributing to our students' growth and understanding.

This event was made possible by the Old Boys' Speaker Series Fund through generous donations from individuals and from proceeds from the Old Boys & Friends' Golf Tournament. Thank you for supporting our educational initiatives.
