Grade 12 Winter Retreat

On January 22, the Grade 12 class and staff stepped away from campus to connect in nature for an overnight winter retreat. The Outdoor Education team in collaboration with the Pre-University staff planned a getaway that marked the halfway point for the Grade 12 year. Much like in September, the group took a short break from academic classes to immerse in nature and reflect on where we are at in the Pre-University process. There was a lot of outdoor play, time to reflect around the outdoor firepit and of course, and perhaps the highlight of the trip, dog sledding! During this activity students and staff were paired up and assigned a sled and team of dogs. Everyone had an opportunity to enjoy a ride in the sled while their partner was in full control (or not!) guiding the dogs and driving the sled. It is our hope that this experience offered students an opportunity to refresh their perspective and distill the important threads in their lives, a paramount process as students enter their final months at Selwyn House School, and start looking to the imminent change ahead. - Ms. Lynam, Pre-U Coordinator
